Monday 18 November 2019, the BRI Institute received its First Anniversary by holding an International Fintech Seminar which was packed in the BRInnovate 2019 event with the theme “From Global Microfinance Pioneers to Leading Human Resources in Financial Technology”, at this event BRI Institute stated as: “The First Fintech University in Indonesia”. in this seminar presented speakers from various fields from Academics, from practitioners and from Regulations / Government.

In this event a MoU was signed between BRI and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) under the umbrella of the MIT Industrial Liaison Program, and also the BRI Institute with the Indonesian FinTech Association (AFTECH). With the signing of the document, it is expected to strengthen the existence of the BRI Institute as FinTech University.

Managing Director Information Technology & Operation BRI, Mr Indra Utoya said “This activity illustrates the important role of the BRI Institute for BRI Bank and its subsidiary groups to prepare young professionals with future-proof competencies in the field of information technology and financial science,”.

BRI Institute Chancellor, Prof. Dana Saroso said that BRI became a pioneer in the field of micro finance, but along with the digital development, human resources needed were not only superior in micro finance but also fintech. Collaboration with MIT can strengthen the development of quality human resources.
